What do the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and Steam Deck have in common?

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and Steam Deck are distantly related. The (alleged) discovery emerges from a report by Gamma0burst, which collected some data on both devices and reached the following conclusion: the Samsung Exynos 2200 integrated GPU could be a derivative of AMD Van Gogh, the chip that made its way in the Steam Deck handheld console manufactured by Valve.

The Exynos 2200 GPU has several names. The official one is Xclipse 920, but it is also identified as Voyager, Mariner, RDNA2 GPU and especially MGFX0 (M0), according to the kernel data. Its successor, incidentally, could be called MGFX1 or M1 (officially Xclipse 930).

Analyzing the Van Gogh Lite code, we intuit that the Xclipse 920 is a scaled down version of this one. Van Gogh GPU, not with 512 but with 384 Stream Processor. The Van Gogh Lite APU, therefore, would be a variant of the one found in the Steam Deck portable console (Van Gogh "standard"), a "downclocked" variant to adapt to mobile devices (specifically, Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22 + and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra)
