The official website of the manga magazine Nakayoshi, published by Kodansha, announces the farewell to Mia Ikumi, author known especially for having lent the drawings to the manga shojo Tokyo Mew Mew - Winning Friends.

According to the report , the author, born in 1979, sadly passed away at the age of 43 on 7 March due to subarachnoid haemorrhage and the funeral was held privately. March 27 would be his complete.

The pair of artists created the first edition of the work on Nakayoshi from 2000 to 2003 for a total of 7 volumes. In Italy, the work is available for purchase in its entirety for Play Press. Ikumi also made from 2003 to 2004 a sequel to the manga in question entitled Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode and, again, a mini-series in December 2019 entitled Tokyo Mew Mew 2020 Re-Turn.

The series manga inspired a 52-episode animated series and aired from 2002 to 2003 with the production of Studio Pierrot (Naruto). In Italy, the rights were acquired by Mediaset which broadcast the anime on Italia 1 in 2004. The Italian abbreviation was interpreted by Cristina D'Avena:
