Colin McRae's Ford Focus WRC at auction
When famous rally driver Colin McRae is mentioned, most people associate him with the Subaru brand. After all, McRae took the title with the Impreza way back in 1995 and took numerous wins with that car, finishing second in the 1996 and 1997 championships. But McRae's career isn't limited to Subaru, the driver has been using for some time also a first generation Ford Focus.A famous auction site recently put the famous driver's Ford Focus WRC (Y4 FMC) on sale, arousing strong curiosity among enthusiasts. The story behind this model is quite interesting; used in the 2001 season, the car was the victim of a daring accident which led to the premature end of the life of the car itself, forcing the driver to give up the title.
In recent years it has been mainly used for a few brief appearances and will soon end up at the home of a lucky enthusiast who decided to buy it at auction. The car was sold on the Silverstone Auctions website at a price of 510 thousand euros; around 200,000 euros more than the Audi Sport Quattro S1 used by Hannu Mikkola. Also up for auction is the tracksuit worn by McRae in the 2001 season at a price of 20 thousand euros.
