Alfa Romeo Stelvio: some spy photos anticipate the news of the restyling

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

2022 will be a very important year for Alfa Romeo. In fact, the Italian manufacturer is preparing to start sales of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale, after the presentation that took place last February. At the same time, the restylings of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio are on the way. In the last few hours, some spy photos show us a prototype of the future Alfa Romeo Stelvio restyling, anticipating some news.

The restyling of the SUV will focus on the front. The Stelvio will record the introduction of new headlights that should incorporate the solution proposed by Alfa Romeo on the new Tonale. It should be noted that on the side panel there is also the presence of a new "Extreme" badge which could anticipate the arrival of a new version of the SUV. This version could represent a point of contact between the Stelvio range and its sporting evolution, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

In particular, the SUV could resume the four-cylinder 2.0 turbo with 48 V mild hybrid system that will debut, in a 300 hp variant, on the Maserati Grecale, a model that uses the same platform as the Stelvio.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio And Giulia “Estrema” Spied On Truck Carrier

A new trim level for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia has been spotted ahead of its official reveal thanks to these cars spotted being carted between locations on a transport truck. The “Estrema” (or “Extreme” to us anglophones) edition models should be available late this year even in North America.

It appears that the new model will be introduced with the updated Alfa Romeo Stelvio, that we’ve previously seen testing. The Giulia, meanwhile, looks like the same old model, per these photos kindly shared with us by Gabetz Spy Unit.

According to Mopar Insider, which cites dealer sources, the new Estrema models will combine the “Veloce” trim with high-performance treats from the automaker’s Quadrifoglio lineup, making it a reasonable entry point for fans of performance who aren’t quite ready to go all-in on a super high-performance model.

The model will therefore add the Alfa Active Suspension, Anthracite-colored badging (including “Estrema” badge), carbon mirror caps, a carbon grille, Dark Daylight Opening trim, black brake calipers with white Alfa Romeo script, 19-inch Dark Classico wheels for the Giulia and 21-inch Dark Turismo wheels for the Stelvio, as well as electric sports seats in Alcantara/leather with red stitching, carbon interior accents, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

The Estrema models will also be offered with Alfa Rosso, Alfa White, Vulcano Black Metallic, and Misano Blue Metallic exterior paint colors. The same dealer sources, meanwhile, said that the trim will be available in North America as of Q4 2022, as 2023 models.

Notice the Maserati Grecale?

For the Stelvio, the new trim may herald minor updates to the exterior of the vehicle that includes Tonale-like three-ring headlights, as well as a new bumper. Keen-eyed observers, meanwhile, may notice that behind the Giulia there is an uncamouflaged silver Maserati Grecale.

Set to be unveiled on March 22 (after some COVID-related delays), the Maserati crossover is based on the same platform as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the automaker plans to offer gas, hybrid, and all-electric drivetrains for it. Maserati has also confirmed that a high-performance Grecale Trofeo will eventually join the lineup.
