Turkish start-up Togg unveils new electric SUV at CES 2022

Turkish company Togg made its public debut at CES in Las Vegas, anticipating the arrival of a highly autonomous concept car defined as a "smart device". The CEO of the company, Mehmet Gürcan Karakas, said that Togg is not a traditional car manufacturer but was born as a technology company and, for this reason, the CES stage was chosen to present the first solutions.

Togg aims to provide user-centric products and improve the electric mobility experience; plans to bring one million vehicles to market in five different segments by 2030 with the first, a C-segment SUV, on sale in the first quarter of 2023. At CES 2022, Togg unveiled the first electric SUV manufactured in Western Europe by a non-traditional manufacturer and subsequently a sedan, a hatchback, both of the C segment, an SUV and finally an almost anachronistic minivan will arrive on the market. All models, to optimize research and development costs, will adopt the same platform.

The Transition Concept Smart Device on display at CES takes the form of a five-door fastback; the technical details remain secret, but Togg has confirmed plans for the internal production of batteries in collaboration with the Chinese company Farasis. Togg's solutions will integrate an elevated and "user-centered, connected, empathetic and intelligent" autonomous driving system. At present it is not clear what the level of autonomous driving will actually be available, but given the official launch in 2023, it is to be hoped that the manufacturer will be able to fit into one of the higher segments.
