Metroid Dread convinces! Breaking a record for the Nintendo series

The release of Metroid Dread left fans and critics impressed. In fact, the game has been praised by the public and the specialized press (here you can read our review) and its sales level has already made a very important record, although for now limited to the United Kingdom.

How in fact reports the UK sales rankings, Metroid Dread has managed to set a decidedly sumptuous record for the franchise. Although the release did not stop FIFA 22 from climbing to the top position as a top seller, Samus Aran's new game is in fact present in the ranking in second place. This made the new title in the series the fastest-selling chapter of the entire franchise, also ousting Metroid Prime 3: Corruption during its release weekend. But not only that, the numbers do not end there.

Metroid Dread has in fact reached another important milestone. It managed to triple the sales of the latest 2D game in the series, Samus Returns, which debuted in 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS. Only one game released a day earlier managed to stop the climb to success of the MercurySteam title, or Far Cry 6, which took the second position in the ranking. Nintendo still has to celebrate, considering that it manages to monopolize a good part of the Top 10, with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Animal Crossing New Horizons and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. An excellent week therefore for the Kyoto house, which can count on many games sold at least in the United Kingdom.

In addition to Metroid Dread, the new Nintendo Switch model, called Nintendo Switch, also debuted on the same day OLED model. The new version of the console features a brighter screen and an upgradeable dock, as well as a LAN port so you can play and use online features with a network cable instead of just WiFi.
