TV channels show airstrike in Afghanistan with Arma-3 gameplay

The situation in Afghanistan is more than unstable at the moment, and there are harrowing images of armed conflicts every day. This is a very serious issue that should be treated with due respect and care. However, some Indian TV stations may not have been too strict in their reporting recently and have used some scenes from a computer game instead of real material.

On stations such as Republic TV, Times Now Navbharat, TV9 Bharatvarsh and Zee Hindustan recently saw a report about an alleged air strike by the Pakistani military on the Afghan province of Punjir. In the excerpt, which comes from Hasti TV according to a logo, you can see a fighter aircraft that is under heavy fire at a ground defense position. At first glance, the viewer could actually believe that this was real material.

But if you take a closer look, you will quickly see that something is wrong with those scenes. A little later, the embarrassing resolution followed via Twitter: The material is gameplay scenes from the military simulation Arma 3 (buy now), which originally came on the market in 2013. There was therefore no air stop. The Twitter user "Mohammed Zubair" juxtaposed the two videos and thus exposed the error.

Incidentally, this is not the first case of this kind: As early as 2018, a Russian TV station used scenes from Arma 3 for its war reporting, which was also revealed a short time later.
