Deathloop: No more postponements - action game reaches gold status

Deathloop

The games industry is currently once again in the summer slump. Accordingly, only a few titles see the light of day. You won't have to wait that long until the spectacular first-person action game Deathloop comes onto the market. As the developer studio Arkane Lyon recently announced, the wacky title by the Dishonored makers has reached gold status and, as last planned, will be released on September 14th for PC and console-exclusive the PS5. After the time loop game was postponed a few times in the past, the developers can now concentrate on the release day and the first fine adjustments.

In Deathloop you slip into the role of the assassin Colt, who is on the island of Blackreef in a time warp. In order to escape from the loop, the protagonist has to take out eight targets in a single day and in a set order. In four areas and at four different times of the day, it is your task to gradually get information in order to get closer to your goals. With every screen death, the loop starts again from the beginning. But watch out: In Deathloop (buy now € 56.99 / € 50.99) no section should remain identical. With each run, you finally collect new tips and hints.

In addition, the merciless assassin Julianna Blake makes your life hell. The main antagonist of the action game wants to keep the time loop on the island with all her might and is said to be extremely difficult to get rid of even as an NPC. With the "Invasion Multiplayer", a friend can slip into the role of Julianna and challenge you in a 1v1 mode. How well this works and whether Deathloop can follow in the footsteps of the popular Dishonored, you will find out from September 14th. Following Delays, Arkane’s Timed PS5 Console Exclusive Deathloop Has Gone Gold

Arkane Studios’ twice delayed timed PlayStation 5 exclusive, Deathloop, has gone gold. Rest assured, the game will launch on September 14th for Sony’s new console as well as PC.

Deathloop has an interesting premise. Players will step into the shoes of an assassin named Colt, who is stuck on the island of Blackreef. Blackreef is trapped in an endless time loop that can only come to an end if Colt is able to take out eight key targets across the island before the day resets. Unfortunately, Colt is being hunted by the island’s inhabitants as well as another assassin named Julianna, whose only mission is to take out Colt. As you can imagine, here’s where things kind of get complicated.

Deathloop‘s timed exclusivity came into question when Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media and its subsidiaries, which includes publisher Bethesda and Arkane Studios. However, the companies involved are bound to honor legal contracts, and Microsoft had no intention to violate laws in this case.

Deathloop‘s PS5 console exclusivity will end on September 2022.

“Fight to survive a deadly game of hunter vs hunted as you immerse yourself in first-person action armed with a powerful roster of otherworldly powers and savage weaponry,” reads an official description. “Choose your preferred playstyle, from sneaking your way through each level to barrelling gun-first into the fight. If at first you don’t succeed… die, die again.”
