American Horror Story: Creator Expands Franchise

American Horror Story

American Horror Story and American Crime Story creator Ryan Murphy will expand his franchise with two limited spin-off series, American Sports Story and American Love Story.

Ryan Murphy and the franchise born with American Horror Story

Produced by FX and 20th Television, Murphy's American Story franchise began with the American Horror Story anthology series in 2011, followed by its first spin-off series, American Crime Story , in 2016. Additionally, FX and Hulu recently launched an anthology spin-off called American Horror Stories, a new anthology series whose new episodes air every week, consisting of seven independent one-hour episodes, each of which tells a different horror story. In Italy, the series will be distributed on Disney + as a Star Original product from September 8 this year.

Like the other American Story series, American Sports Story and American Love Story will be both anthologies, telling a different story each season.

American Sports Story will focus on a singular and prominent figure in sport through the lens of today's world, telling the story from multiple perspectives. The first chapter of the series, currently untitled, is based on the podcast "Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc." from the Boston Globe and Wondery and will follow the rise and fall of the NFL superstar. Stu Zicherman (The Americans) will be the lead writer.

American Love Story will focus on true love stories, starting with the courtship and marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. The series will follow the couple as they face the pressures of being a prominent American family exposed to the microscope of the tabloid media, as well as political and family discord, which leads to the tragic death of the couples.

American Love Story and American Sports Story currently have no release date.

Further clips show the author obsessively typing, Angelica Ross doing lab work and a bloody body dangling over a table. Sarah Paulson and Billie Lourd also star in Red Tide.
