Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, recently hosted a large investor conference. As part of this, there was not only a report on the current business figures, but also a small outlook on the near future. We will soon have a major announcement ahead of us. That emerges from a statement by Karl Slatoff, the President of Take-Two. Among other things, he said:"Later this month, 2K will reveal details of another exciting brand that is currently planned to appear during this fiscal year."
Slatoff was not able to get any further information in this regard. The only thing that is certain is that the release of the new series of games is planned for the current financial year. This will run until March 31, 2022, so publication should take place within the next nine months. The development of the previously secret game should have progressed accordingly.
A new game from the makers of Civilization?
There is currently a lot of room for speculation. The new brand could be a new project by the development studio Firaxis Games, which has made a name for itself above all with the Civilization series. There have been several rumors that the team is currently working on several games and will announce them in the near future. In terms of time, it would fit well with Karl Slatoff's statement. 2K Will Unveil A New Game This Month
We might be midway through 2021, but there’s still plenty of time to unveil new games. We have Gamescom coming up, and that alone should make for some interesting reveals. However, we at least know that there will be a brand new video game announcement coming out from 2K. This news comes from Take-Two which claims 2K will make the announcement this month. Unfortunately, that’s about all the information we have at the moment. Still, we can speculate on what it could be.
The announcement, as mentioned, came from Take-Two. During their earnings call on Monday, the company unveiled 2K has a new game. Whatever this new game ends up being, it’s slated to launch within this fiscal year. Fortunately, this new game won’t make players wait on its reveal. Take-Two did note that fans should see this game unveiled within this month. We could see it pop up anytime or perhaps during an actual show like Gamescom. Regardless, we don’t actually know what studio from 2K it’s been developed at.
Likewise, it will be interesting to see if this is a game set for the latest generation of video game console platforms. Hopefully, we’ll see some cross-generation video game releases. After all, consumers can’t get their hands on the newest generation of console platforms as it stands right now. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are hot ticket items, but you won’t find them readily available at your local retailers. Instead, these consoles are quickly sold out once a new shipment arrives, leaving plenty of players still enjoying their last-generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
For now, all we can do is wait and see just what video game is unveiled and from what studio. With that said, there’s always the chance this game will get hit with a delay. That could potentially push this game out of the March 2022 release window deadline.
