Razer renews the Blade 17 and Blade 15 notebooks with new Intel CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs

Razer has revamped Blade 17, its largest gaming notebook, with the latest Intel processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs. With one of Razer's most extensive lineups, the Blade 17 (with the word “Pro” removed from the name) will come in seven separate configurations, with prices starting at $ 2,399. While the design doesn't change, Razer has incorporated an anti-fingerprint coating into the CNC aluminum chassis, which should be a big plus, as laptops can be covered with fingerprints quite easily. Razer also promises an improved trackpad with more reliable palm rejection, single-key RGB lighting, and four speakers with THX Spatial Audio support.

But the $ 3,699 high-end model will use the Core i9-11900H, capable of up to 4.9GHz boost clock. Razer claims that the higher PL1 and TGP levels are enabled by the Blade 17's vapor chamber cooling system. The new Razer laptops weigh around 2.75KG and measure 395x260x19.9mm. Graphics cards will range from the RTX 3060 up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 with 16GB of VRAM. Razer claims that the GPU's TGP is set at 130W, while the CPU's PL1 is 65W. Most models, from the base one up to the $ 2,799 one, have 1 6GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. The $ 3,299 and $ 3,699 laptops, on the other hand, go up to 32GB.

There are also three different options for the display: 1440p (2560 × 1440 pixels) at 165Hz or 240Hz, 1080p (1920 × 1080 pixels) at 360Hz, and, in the high-end configuration, a 4K (3840 pixels) touchscreen × 2160 pixels) at 120Hz. One constant thing is the presence of 1TB of storage in all seven versions of the laptop, with a free M.2 slot for those looking to add another PCIe NVMe SSD in the future.

The chassis offers a series of ports, including Thunderbolt 4 on each side of the notebook, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader, an Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. In addition, all are equipped with a Wi-Fi 6E network card and have an infrared (IR) camera for Windows Hello facial recognition.

There are three configurations, but all include a Core i7-11800H, 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD, plus an additional M.2 slot. The $ 1,799 base model comes with an RTX 3060 and a 1080p display at 144Hz. For $ 1,999, you get the same screen but paired with an RTX 3070. Instead, for the $ 2,199 variant you get a 1440p display at 165Hz, but the same RTX 3070.

Razer at the moment has not yet communicated certain dates concerning the availability of its new products, probably due to the moment of uncertainty facing the sector due to the shortage of components, but the preorder should start this month.
