Free Tesla Superchargers in flood-affected areas of Europe

Apparently, following the devastating floods that hit Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, the Elon Musk carmaker has decided to make it temporarily free - in these areas - to recharge the Superchargers for all its customers. The US manufacturer therefore sent a message to the owners of a Tesla brand vehicle, illustrating the initiative - which was already launched on Sunday 18 July -, in order to be able to take advantage of the free charging for electric cars and, therefore , to be able to move to areas other than those affected by the devastating rains. According to the media itself, most Superchargers are located along the highways which is why - usually - they are more protected from possible flooding such as those that have hit some European countries.

However, it would seem that, when the situation stabilizes and it can return to normal, the car manufacturer Tesla - as happened several times in similar situations - will return to impose the standard rates. As well as the US manufacturer, many other automakers are also looking to provide support to their customers. In fact, there is no shortage of companies that have made available free rentals or that have decided to provide vehicles to the Red Cross and other authorities.

Usually, electricity is one of the services that comes back first in areas that are involved in natural disasters, for this reason electric vehicles - in these particular situations - should not have major problems. However, the charging infrastructure takes some time to repair. In the future, there could be - in this regard - important news since electric vehicles with large battery packs will most likely have the function of exporting energy. By doing so, it will be possible - for the owners of an electric vehicle - to manage in an easier way any power outages and, therefore, to be able to turn on some instruments and devices.
