Commercials in FIFA? EA comments on allegedly planned in-game advertising

Will Electronic Arts soon be adding in-game TV-style advertising to its PC and console games? This was indicated by at least one report recently that EA has allegedly signed a deal with TV advertising company Simulmedia. This cooperation should include the use of the new platform called playerWON for the installation of advertising clips - similar to what is the case with many mobile games. However, the publisher has neither confirmed nor commented on the report - until now.

Now a spokesman for Electronic Arts spoke up to deny the aforementioned report. He clarified:

"After some inaccurate reports that we were allegedly planning to include TV-style advertising in our games, we wanted to clarify that in-game advertising in console games is not something we are currently planning and for which we have appropriate agreements. Our primary focus remains on creating the best possible experience for the players. "

Although the speaker initially only explicitly mentioned console games. However, a little later it became clear that he was referring to the entire Electronic Arts product catalog and thus also included PC games. It remains to be seen, of course, whether Electronic Arts will refrain from such advertisements for all eternity. But at least in the near future we seem to be spared it.

Would such in-game advertisements in PC and console games really bother you or would you accept them? Discuss in the comments!
