Valorant celebrates its first birthday with 14 million active players

Valorant is celebrating its first birthday by rattling off some numbers that certify its success. With over 14 million active players and half a billion games played, the game from Riot Games demonstrates this publisher's ability to create successful products that can go beyond League of Legends.

Impressive numbers, considering, moreover, that we are only talking about the PC market. The expansion of Valorant on mobile has just been announced, while plans for an arrival on consoles are still shrouded in fog.

After a record-breaking closed beta and successful global launch, Valorant has, therefore, quickly gained a lot of popularity, becoming one of the most important first-person shooters on PC, amassing more than half a billion games in 12 months.

"In this first year, one of our main goals has been to earn the trust and respect of the global first person shooter community, and to demonstrate that Valorant will always maintain the characteristics that make it a valid competitive tactical shooter. " said Anna Donlon, executive producer of Valorant at Riot Games. "Seeing our community of players continues to grow, recognize and appreciate what we are trying to create with Valorant fills us with joy, and we are delighted to be able to offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more players soon. worldwide."

Riot also organized the Valorant Champions Round to support the game's growing competitive scene. The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) is a year-long global esports circuit with three levels of competition: Challengers, Masters and Champions. The second most important event of the Valorant Champions Tour 2021, as well as Valorant's first international tournament, phase 2 of the VCT Masters, concluded last week in Reykjavík in Iceland.

According to initial data, the final clash between Sentinels and Fnatic peaked at over 1 million spectators at the same time, with an average spectator per minute of over 800,000.

To celebrate birthday, Riot Games has also organized a special Valorant tournament in which we will participate too! Come and cheer!
