PS3 and Xbox 360 are the best generation ever

Having entered the ninth generation of videogames for just under a year, we leave behind a series of great consoles that have contributed, each in their own way, to making the history of this media. The question among fans always arises spontaneously, which was the most beautiful videogame generation? There are those who say PS3 and Xbox 360, others who are fond of the Gamecube, PS2 and first Xbox generation. Groped to answer this very difficult question is a recent analysis, which crowned a real Golden Age of video games on consoles, but which of the many generations was the winner?

The analysis in question was created by FandomSpot and took into consideration 19 of the most important videogame franchises that have spanned multiple generations. Among these we find the sagas of Call of Duty, FIFA and Grand Theft Auto above all. The analysis was based on the Metacritic scores of each version of each title of the franchise, so it was found that as many as 15 of the 19 best games of each franchise examined were released during the seventh videogame generation, that of PS3. and Xbox 360.

Among the games that have defined this Golden Age of the video game there are some of the best sellers released on PS3 and Xbox 360, namely: Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, FIFA 10 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Immediately behind the seventh generation of gaming, the analysis puts the previous generation, that is, the one that saw three iconic consoles as the first Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube as protagonists.

We realize that defining which was the most beautiful and impressive videogame generation is by no means an easy job, and to do so there are many factors that must be taken into consideration. For you, for example, what was the generation of consoles that most of all have amused you up to now? If you want to experience, or relive, the games of the Xbox 360 generation, you can do it thanks to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. GTA Online to shut down in December for Xbox 360 and PS3

Rockstar has announced it is to end support for the original versions of GTA Online this year, to make way for the current gen versions.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was first released in 2013 and in the proceeding eight years it’s managed to sell over 145 million copies and, thanks to over $6 billion in sales, become the most successful entertainment product of all time.

Much of that success has been via the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, as well as the PC, but everything started with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. But since those formats are now two generations behind the times Rockstar is winding up their support.

That won’t affect anything to do with GTA 5’s story mode but after December 16 you will no longer be able to play the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions online, with microtransactions for Shark cards stopping on September 15.

This isn’t much of a surprise given that Rockstar stopped updating the Xbox 360 era versions of GTA Online as long ago as 2015, which means those versions haven’t had any new content since then.

Online support for Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire will also be switched off on September 16, although since they’re primarily single-player games that mostly just means stat-tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club.

The decision is being taken now because the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of the game are due to be released this autumn, although for a brief period that does mean the same game will be available to play across three generations of consoles.

The next gen versions of GTA 5 will launch on November 11, including GTA Online, although what differences there might be between them and the last gen versions has still not been revealed.
