PS5: New model with a different chip should go into production in 2022

PS5

According to current reports, a redesign of the PS5 could go into production as early as next year. At least that's what the sources of the Taiwanese website DigiTimes claim, which have received information from local manufacturers. In detail, production is planned between the second and third quarter. However, it is unlikely that this is a PS5 Slim.

According to analyst Dr. Serkan Toto from Digi Times is said to have equipped the PS5 redesign with a "Semi-Customized 6nm CPU" from AMD, which is cheaper than the current 5nm model. At the investor conference, Sony officials announced that they are currently looking for ways to meet demand as quickly as possible. Changes to the installed hardware were also mentioned. The rumors about the redesign could possibly already be one of these models.

By the end of March 2021, 7.8 million copies of the PS5 had already been sold. For the new financial year, they want to exceed the sales of the second year of the PS4. The predecessor went over the counter around 14.8 million times during this period. According to Sony, there will still be delivery bottlenecks for the PS5 in this financial year. So demand is likely to remain very high. We'll keep you up to date on our website whenever there's a new wave of PS5 sales (buy now).
