Marvel: Former cast member complains about MCU actors

Marvel

Actor Mickey Rourke was part of the now popular Marvel Cinematic Universe many years ago. In Iron Man 2 from 2010, the actor was seen as Ivan Vanko in the role of the villain.

In the meantime, however, Rourke seems to have changed his mind about the Marvel Studios films. On Instagram, he now gossiped about the work of his former Marvel colleagues. During the lockdown, the actor had time to watch several episodes of the crime series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". In his post, he praised the talent of the actors who can be seen in the production and then spreads his swipe at Marvel.

In the past, the actor has repeatedly made negative comments about Marvel. Shortly after the release of Iron Man 2, Rourke criticized Marvel for planning a one-dimensional villain with Ivan Vanko - but would have much preferred to play a diverse character. Even then, Rourke ruled out wanting to play in other Marvel projects in the future. The Instagram post from the weekend should make it clear that nothing has changed.

6 Other Marvel Characters And Stories That Need Their Own Disney+ TV Show

Published: May. 9. 2021 3:04 PM

When it comes to Marvel, there are more than a few characters that I've felt should get more and more screen time. Originally, one of my favorites when she first arrived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was Scarlet Witch, a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff. However, we were gifted with WandaVision, and then, later on, we were given The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, featuring another one of my favorite characters, Bucky Barnes.

However, I couldn’t help but wonder, with all these Marvel shows on Disney+ that are lined up in the coming months and beyond, especially in summer 2021 alongside the upcoming Marvel movies, there are many more stories yet to be told. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat in the theater and thought 'this would make an amazing show.' And that’s what I'm about to get into because these are the other Marvel stories or characters I believe deserve a little more screen time in the MCU, specifically with their own Disney+ TV show.

Bucky’s Time As The Winter Soldier

Look, we love James Buchanan Barnes, we adore a redemption story, we are cheering for his mental health and all that is involved with his future.

But I’m not going to lie and say a part of me doesn’t miss The Winter Soldier a lot.

There was just something so mysterious about the character prior to him discovering who he was. And while the new Bucky is completely badass in every way, I would love to know more about his past when he was with HYDRA. I want to see how hard they trained him, some of the missions that he faced – maybe even that Winter-Widow relationship we were all sadly deprived of from the movies.

There’s so much story to his character in the comics and with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier really showcasing Bucky, I think a Disney+ TV show that puts Bucky and his past at the center of the story would really build upon the super soldier that we all care for already. It doesn’t even need to be a super long series, maybe even just a mini-series. I just want to know more about it.

Clint And Natalie's Budapest Story

This is the ultimate inside joke of Marvel and I’m over it.

I know the internet has its feelings about Clint and Nat and their individualized skill sets to the Avengers, but you can’t sit there and say that you’re not the least bit curious as to what happened between these two in Budapest.

It’s been driving me crazy since the first Avengers movie and the fact that they bring it up decently often throughout the films only frustrates me more because all I want is the damn series showing off their spy times together. It’s clear that Clint and Nat had a deep friendship, especially from what happened in Avengers: Endgame – we’re getting a Black Widow movie soon, why not talk more about how she met Clint and what really happened when they were out doing their spy adventures? That would have been perfect to go over before she – well, you know.

We don’t have to talk about that again.

Gamora And Nebula Growing Up

I recall that the first time I ever watched Guardians of the Galaxy, I thought it was the funniest Marvel movie ever and had spat out my drink several times in the theater. But after my chuckles, I started to think about who my favorite character from the movie was, and I realized it was two of them – Gamora and Nebula, the alien stepsisters.

It’s clear that Thanos always preferred Gamora over Nebula, but after the heavy amount of story we got for both of them both in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it only made me want to learn more about them and their relationship. And now that Gamora is technically alive again thanks to the power of time travel, and the old Nebula still remains, a series about the two of them growing up, training, and the sibling rivalry to prove who is better to daddy-dearest Thanos would be amazing. Plus, who wouldn't love the amazing visual effects of space that Marvel has given us?

The Ancient One

I’m going to be honest – at first, I didn’t think that Doctor Strange was going to be any good, even as a Harry Potter fan and a Scarlett Witch fan. However, as soon as I actually saw the movie, I knew I had dug myself a hole because it was actually really good and extremely interesting, including amazing visual effects and cinematography. I was stunned.

However, one question that I had – or rather, several questions I had – revolved around the Ancient One. We haven’t seen much of her. We saw her in the movie as well as Avengers: Endgame but then she just… died. Like that. Without any real, fully developed story behind her. For someone who is extremely powerful, I think she deserves a TV show to show off her powers and history before meeting Stephen Strange.

I want to learn more about her past lives, her life now, wherever her spirit took her – there are so many possibilities with this character.

Natalie And Steve’s Journey On The Run After Civil War

Truly one of the best pair-ups they ever could have given us in the movie, I wanted more of Nat and Steve together after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and then they were on opposite teams in Captain America: Civil War. But once the events of that film were over and done with, they ended up going on the run together because they were fugitives after refusing to sign the accords.

What happened when they were on the run?!

I mean, just by their appearances they look different for protective reasons but I want to learn all about them. There was a solid two years that went by without any sort of word from them before they showed up to save Wanda and Vision from some of Thanos’ allies. When did Steve destroy his costume? When did he even meet up with Natasha? Did they do anything that was considering “superhero” while on the run or did they sort of just lay low?

I mean, the amount of questions I have is endless.

There was that possibility that Chris Evans might return back to the MCU via Deadline, so who knows? It might be for a small series like this that explores his character a bit. Or it could be for the one down below.

When Steve Rogers Returned The Infinity Stones

I can’t be the only one thinking this.

Is it just me, or is everyone a bit confused about the time travel aspect in the MCU? Because I know I was. Don’t get me wrong, it was a lot of fun, but at the same time, I was still a bit lowkey confused about it. And that’s where I think a series about when Steve returned each of the stones to their respective location would be great.

I mean, a reunion between Red Skull and seeing Nat’s body? Seeing Peggy again? Going back to the Avengers fight in New York City once more? I can almost imagine the stories and the different timelines that could be explored. This would be the perfect moment to do so.

Even with all these ideas, I can’t deny that the next couple of years are going to be amazing for Marvel, especially with their upcoming movies and TV shows, so I’m excited either way. What kind of Marvel stories do you want to see brought to life?
