PS4: Firmware update 8.50 released, it's inside

PS4

In addition to the big April update for the PS5, Sony has now also released a new firmware update for the PS4. This is version 8.50, which brings some innovations, changes and optimizations with it, which we of course do not withhold from you and which we want to present here.

One of the biggest innovations is probably the expansion of the share -Play function on the PS5. So it is now possible for you to have games of the NextGen console displayed on the screen via the PS4 (buy now € 320.00) and to try them out in this way. So you can not only share your screen, but also virtually pass on a controller and play co-op games together. There are also some new options for the Message Center as well as other minor changes. Here is the overview:

Main Features

You can now Share Play with other Players on PS5 In messages, you can now turn notifications on / off for each of the groups you're in. On the group screen, open then options menu and select "Turn Notifications Off". Other Changes

On the game session screen, you can now use the "Request to Join" button to ask the session leader to join their game. The session leader can then send you an invite to join the game session. When playing a game you've hidden, other players will no longer see you play it. We updated the file format for extended storage, this will be updated, once you connect an extended storage device. The new file format will not work with previous firmware versions. Communities are no longer available. Source: Sony
