Powerpuff Girls
The cast for the live-action reboot of the Powerpuff Girls series, known here as the Super Goodies, has finally been revealed. Conceived by Diablo Cody, Juno's screenwriter, and Greg Berlanti, producer for The CW, the series will bring the cute Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup to our live screens.Originally broadcast on Cartoon Network, the Powerpuff Girls (of which you can buy nice figures at this link) finished their initial programming 15 years ago, but the characters have remained very well impressed throughout the collective imagination. Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault will play respectively Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, while Scrubs star Donald Faison will be Professor Utonium and Tom Kenny will play the role of "narrator".
The filming of Powerpuff Girls kicked off last week, hinting at a likely debut of the series in the fall of 2021. At the moment, plot details are extremely meager, suggesting that at least one of the cartoon series' most iconic villains will be included in this live-action production.
The promotional images, coming from the production of the pilot episode, show the three actresses in relation to the traditional color related to the SuperChicca that they will interpret, thus trying to recall as much as possible the aesthetics of the original cartoon series.
The first rumors from the set, especially the photos showing the actresses in costume, were met with a lot of criticism from fans, who consider the costumes definitely not up to their expectations. Given the times in which we live, it is by no means certain that the production will satisfy the "hard core" of the fans, also given the very low diffusion of the material and the total absence of a trailer or some filmed clip.
It must be said, however, that The CW has a certain talent for managing the series concerning superpowers, the fifth thing could bode well for this new series!

The Powerpuff Girls is a popular superhero animated series from the late 90s. It is being adapted into a live-action series at the CW. The shooting of the show has recently commenced with leak photos exciting the fans. Now, the makers have shared an official first look of the three super girls who are now grown-ups.

Buttercup (Yana Perrault) was the rebellious badass of The Powerpuff Girls in its heyday. More sensitive than her tough exterior suggests, she has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life.
The Powerpuff Girls pilot cast includes Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicolas Podany as Mojo Jojo, Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum, and Tom Kenny as narrator, reprising his role from the 1998 and 2016 animated series. It will be directed by Maggie Kiley and is written by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier. The show is bankrolled by Berlanti Productions and Vita Vera Films in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Diablo Cody will executively produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, and Maggie Kiley. Erika Kennair will serve as one of the producers. The premiere date and more details about the show will be revealed soon.
