Judgment: a countdown could reveal the sequel

Judgment

Judgment takes up many of the mechanics we've already seen in the Yakuza series, which is why so many players enjoyed it when it was released over two years ago. SEGA's work has received a decent following, which is why many expect a sequel to be already in development. Just in the last few hours, a first confirmation may have come, as a mysterious site may have announced the announcement of Judgment 2.

Just today that the title was released on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and Stadia, with an important technical and graphic improvement, SEGA has started a countdown that will end on May 7, 2021 at 16:00 (Italian time). Nobody knows what will happen when it expires or what will be announced, but the title "Judgment Day" that we can often see on the site suggests that something important will happen at the end of the countdown.

Before reaching hasty conclusions, However, it is good to specify that it is not said that the announcement will necessarily concern a sequel. At the end of the timer, SEGA could also reveal new DLCs or the arrival of Judgment on Nintendo Switch. The possibilities are very many and in the absence of information it is difficult to predict what announcements will be made. Recall that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, who have actually worked on the Yakuza series so far, released Judgment in Japan in December 2018, and then released it all over the world in June 2019.

The next-gen version , provides improved graphics, frame rate anchored to 60 FPS and all the DLC released so far. With Judgment Out for New Consoles, Sega Is Teasing a May 7 Announcement With a Countdown

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Yakuza series spin-off, Judgment, just re-released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia. However, it looks like there’s something more on the horizon, if a countdown by SEGA is anything to go by.

An official “Judgment Day” teaser website recently went live, with a countdown pointing towards an announcement on May 7th at 7:00 am PT/10:00 am ET. The website is available in a number of languages, indicating an international announcement.

Judgment proved to be a commercial success both in Japan and abroad. There were talks of a sequel as far back as 2019, when producer Daisuke Sato said that Judgment‘s performance in the West had surpassed expectations and the studio might want to continue working on the IP. Last month, SEGA filed a trademark for something called “Lost Judgment,” leading to reports that a sequel was in development.

According to Yakuza fansite Tojo Dojo, the sequel has another working title, “Judgment: Seize The Truth.” The site quotes an anonymous source, who claims that the next Judgment will be much darker and will see Yagami and Kaito return.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, but we won’t be surprised if Judgment is indeed getting a sequel. We’ll update our readers when we have more information. In the meantime, check out the game on the PS5, where it takes advantage of new hardware to bring refined visuals with 60 frames per second alongside improved load times, and all previously released downloadable content.
