Rocket League Sideswipe is the new free mobile game

The last videogame generation gave birth to a whole host of successful videogames to say the least sensational. Among these titles we also find Rocket League, the crazy and frenetic soccer game with cars that has depopulated since its first moment of life. After six years of activity, not only the Psyonix title continues to increase its numbers, but it is also ready to expand into new markets and with new experiences and one of these first examples is Rocket League Sideswipe.

Right now the guys from Psyonix have announced Rocket League Sideswipe, a new completely independent Rocket League experience, developed from scratch and coming out on mobile devices. This new iteration of the series will bring the fiery Rocket League matches into a free-to-play game coming later this year on Android and iOS devices. In Rocket League Sideswipe, players will once again take to the pitch to face each other from a new perspective in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. Each match will be much faster in this new iteration, featuring matches lasting 2 minutes each.

Rocket League Sideswipe will feature mobile controls that are easy to apprehend for everyone from Rocket League masters to new players who they are still learning how to play. In addition, just like in Rocket League, there will be advanced mechanics for those who want to climb the competitive levels. Also not to be missed is a wide customization of the cars, very similar to the one introduced on Rocket League in PC and console version.

As pointed out during the announcement, the guys from Psyonix aim to release Rocket League Sideswipe by the end of the 'current year, while starting from today the Australian and New Zealand players will be able to test the game in an alpha phase that we hope will arrive very soon also with us.

If you've never seen Rocket League before, you can buy this fantastic Nintendo Switch version of the game on Amazon at this address.

Rocket League: Sideswipe is a new mobile spinoff of the car-soccer hit

Rocket League developer Psyonix is lofting its car-soccer game onto mobile with Rocket League: Sideswipe. The studio is promising that this new spinoff will capture the magic of the original with touch controls.

Like the console and PC game, Rocket League: Sideswipe is free to play and will generate revenue through microtransactions. Psyonix is launching it in a testing phase in Australia and New Zealand today, which is a typical release strategy for mobile games. This enables Psyonix to refine the gameplay and monetization mechanics all while ensuring the game can maintain an audience.

So why is this a new game and not simply a port of the original game? Well, Psyonix is molding this version specifically for the mobile experience. Instead of 5-minute games and the 1-to-3-player teams, Sideswipe has 2-minute matches and only 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 matches.

Psyonix plans to launch Rocket League: Sideswipe worldwide later this year.
