Another Sony patent has been published on the Internet that deals with backward compatibility. So far, the PS5 can play almost all PS4 games from the last few years - sometimes even with small improvements. However, the titles from the times of the PS1, PS2 and PS3 era cannot be played on the next-gen console.The aforementioned patent was registered with the authority in November 2020. In detail, the new technology deals with the award of trophies in an emulated game. Since at the moment only games from the PlayStation generations of that time would be eligible for emulation, some fans are now again hoping for extended backward compatibility for the PS5. The publication of the patent fits in well with the current reports that Sony would like to switch off the PlayStation Stores for the PS3, PS Vita and PSP in the summer. However, we do not yet know whether there is a connection here. Those responsible have not yet published a statement on the subject. The interest in the PS5 is still huge. New stocks are sold out again within minutes. Due to bottlenecks in the production of the necessary chips, the situation should not improve in the near future.

The PlayStation 5 remains out of stock at most major U.S. retailers with last week's restocks long sold out.
Both versions of Sony's next-gen consoles have proved enormously popular since launching in November, with each subsequent restock flying off the shelves. The sporadic nature of the restocks has only made life harder for gamers, who also have to contend with demand which continues to vastly outstrip supply.
Here's a breakdown of the latest PS5 stock information from Target, Walmart, GameStop, Antonline, PS Direct, Amazon and more.
Amazon PS5 RestockThe PlayStation 5 remains out of stock at Amazon. A message on the retailer's website states: 'We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.'

Antonline PS5 RestockThe PlayStation 5 is not available at Antonline, whose latest restock sold out last week. Gamers should monitor the retailer's social media channels as Antonline tends to announce its restocks on Twitter.
