Yet another partnership signed between an important name in the imaging sector and a manufacturer in the mobile sector: this time it is the Swedish Hasselblad's turn to join forces with the Chinese OnePlus in order to integrate a high-level photographic sector in the next top-of-the-range smartphones of the brand. The prospect is to work together for at least the next three years, leveraging a strategic investment of $ 150 million.

OnePlus 9 Series with Hasselblad Camera for Mobile

For the occasion a system called “Hasselblad Camera for Mobile” was developed. Great attention has been paid to color management and sensor calibration with technologies such as Natural Color Calibration. The first results of the collaboration will be presented within the next few weeks (March 23) with the announcement of the OnePlus 9 Series. Here are the words of Jon Diele, Vice President of Hasselblad.

Hasselblad believes in the power of images and our mission is to continue pushing the boundaries of imaging technology. It is with this clear goal in mind that Hasselblad is happy to work with OnePlus, an innovative company that shares the same vision and passion for technology with us. By partnering with OnePlus, we want to make Hasselblad's iconic design and exceptional image quality available to an even wider audience, to share our passion for photography with the world.

The Pro Mode will instead take care of the sensor calibration putting in the hands of the users the adjustment of parameters related to ISO sensitivity, focus, exposure time, white balance and more. Full support is also guaranteed for 12-bit RAW format.

At the heart of the OnePlus 9 Series will be the Sony IMX789 unit which among other things will offer 8K video recording at 30 fps (or 4K at 60 fps). On the occasion, a quiz was put online that allows you to try your luck to win your smartphone by answering questions about the Swedish brand's historical past.

Founded 180 years ago in Gothenburg, Hasselblad is among the most important in the world of photography. Its products were committed, among other things, to the 1969 moon landing. Three years later, they made it possible to shoot the image better known as Blue Marble that portrays the Earth from tens of thousands of kilometers away.
