FromSoftware: Interstice, the RPG between Dark Souls and Armored Core doesn't really exist

FromSoftware

From the pages of Reddit and ResetEra, several leaks about Project Interstice, the rumored sci-fi RPG between Dark Souls and Armored Core in development at From Software under the aegis of Activision, bounce on the net.

Update - Il Reddit topic has been closed, the image shared by the author of the leak is false, as are the details released by the same, purely invented.

The new pool of rumors is summarized by the redditor TheSecondLight taking a cue from the numerous advances and leaks of news that have occurred in the last few hours. The information pitted from the self-styled "deep throats" of From Software and Activision are so many but they all revolve around the idea of a next gen and multiplatform project for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, unlike the theory of the exclusive Xbox which is taking hold on social media after possible clues launched by Phil Spencer in his office.

Based on the leaks, Project Interstice should see the light of the shops in mid-2023: the development of the title would be taking place under direct supervision by Hidetaka Miyazaki, with gameplay and narrative dynamics that will make him a real "spiritual successor to Armored Core".

Going into the merits of the contents, the leakers describe the title as a role-playing experience full of combat mech, with a deep multiplayer module flanked by a complex structure devoted to the customization of the main character and his Mecha. Furthermore, the title should have a Dark Souls-style Hub, with open world environments to be explored aboard the mech and indoor scenarios where the temporary abandonment of the robot will be required. The game world should be set in a post-apocalyptic future dominated by wastelands and half-destroyed cities, with super-evolved AI warring for control of the remnants of the now extinct human civilization.

Just like in the case of the recent Elden Ring video leak, once again we invite those who follow us to take this kind of rumor with a grain of salt.

Xbox Series X Has Reportedly Secured One of Its Biggest Exclusives Yet

A new Xbox Series X report has PlayStation fans on PS4 and PS5 sweating bullets, or at least some PlayStation players. According to the report, Microsoft has secured another exclusive for the Xbox Series X, and this one has the potential to be one of the biggest Xbox exclusives in years. According to the report, Microsoft is working with FromSoftware -- the makers of Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and more -- on an exclusive game, or more specifically, a sci-fi RPG, that the former will publish.

Unfortunately, this is more or less all the report reveals, other than noting that the game is in pre-production, suggesting a reveal is still a ways off, let alone a release. If all of this is true and goes through, it will be a big pickup for Xbox. While many developers make better-selling games than FromSoftware, not many have its number when it comes to quality and consistency. Further, not only is the developer beloved in 'hardcore' circles, but in PlayStation circles thanks to Demon's Souls in the past and more recently, Bloodborne.

As for the report itself, it comes the way of Miles Dompier of Windows Central, who does follow-up all of this by noting that this information is just based on rumblings he's heard, and right now it's hard to tell if it's legitimate. In other words, take it with a grain of salt.

At the moment of publishing, no party implicated -- Microsoft nor FromSoftware -- have commented on this report and the speculation it has created, and it's unlikely either will given that both rarely ever comment on rumors, reports, leaks, or anything of the speculative and unofficial variety. However, if, for some reason, either do, we will be sure to update the story with whatever either or both provide.
