Rogue Squadron: Chris Pine could appear in the new Star Wars movie
After the Christmas hit at the box office and on HBO Max of Wonder Woman 1984, director Patty Jenkins turns her gaze to one of the most beloved franchises in film history: Star Wars. It is Disney and Lucasfilm who announce that the American director and screenwriter will be in charge of the new film in the saga, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Almost nothing is known about the film, in fact no information has yet been leaked regarding the plot and its position in the timeline of the Star Wars universe, consequently fans are launching on speculations and personal hopes about the project in the pipeline. One of the possibilities that recently came up is that Chris Pine, known to science fiction fans as Captain James Kirk in the Star Trek saga directed by J.J. Abrams, could have a role in the film. Pine and Jenkins, after all, have already collaborated on several projects, starting in 2017 with Wonder Woman, where we saw the actor play the pilot Steve Trevor.

It's no secret that Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins happily work together, but fan speculation stems mostly from the director's statement that, even though pilot Steve Trevor won't return in Wonder Woman 3, she and the 'actor will collaborate again for future projects. In addition, Pine himself recently revealed that he knows the Rogue Squadron storyline and finds it truly great, leading fans of the saga to speculate on its possible involvement, even if only for a supporting role or a cameo.

Despite criticism of Wonder Woman 1984 and consequent doubts about her work, Patty Jenkins said that directing a fighter pilot movie has always been a great ambition of hers, as her own father was a pilot, and therefore wanting to make the best movie possible.
