Cristiano Amon will be the new CEO of Qualcomm
Qualcomm's board of directors unanimously elected Cristiano Amon as the group's new CEO. Already President since January 2018, he will sit in the chair until today occupied by his predecessor Steve Mollenkopf. The turnover will formally take place on June 30, 2021.

Qualcom has chosen its new CEO: Cristiano Amon

50 years, Amon has hitherto been responsible for the QTC business related to semiconductors which includes the Mobile, RF Front End, Automotive and IoT divisions as well as global operations. He knows well the dynamics that have accompanied the growth of the company having been part of it since 1995. These are his first words following the confirmation of his appointment as CEO with a direct reference to projects concerning the cloud and Digital Transformation.

I am honored to be named Qualcomm's next CEO and I appreciate the trust Steve and the board place in me. Qualcomm is an amazing company. It has been at the forefront of innovation for decades and I look forward to maintaining this position in the future. In addition to the willingness to drive the expansion of 5G into mainstream devices and beyond the boundaries of mobile, Qualcomm is poised to play a key role in the Digital Transformation of numerous industries with our technologies becoming essential to connect everything to the cloud. >

Steve Mollenkopf, 52, has spent the last 26 working with the group, taking on the post he is now leaving in March 2014. His contribution was essential in defining the strategy and roadmap of Qualcomm as regards the supply of components for the smartphone market and for initiatives related to the world of mobile connectivity, from 3G to 4G, up to the latest generation 5G networks. This is an excerpt from his statement.

I am immensely proud of what we have achieved at Qualcomm and the position the company enjoys today as a world leader in wireless technologies. With our well-proven business model and our 5G leadership it is the right time for Cristiano to take control of the company and lead it in what I believe is the most important opportunity in its history.
