Death Stranding: Microsoft is rumored to be buying the studio
According to a Spanish console magazine, Microsoft will announce during the Game Awards 2020 on December 11th at 1 a.m. that it is buying the development studio Kojima Productions.

Will Kojima Productions soon be part of Microsoft?

This is still a rumor. There is still no confirmation from Microsoft or Kojima Productions. Twitter user Timdog, who published the article from the Spanish magazine, was usually wrong with previous such information. It is therefore very possible that it is a fake.

However, Microsoft previously stated that further purchases from studios are possible. In addition, the company is currently looking for a developer, especially in the Asian area, to add to the "family". Kojima Productions would be a good fit there. However, Kojima Productions was more "connected" with Sony. The open-world action game Death Stranding (buy now € 21.95 / € 53.99), for example, was released exclusively for the PS4 and only later for the PC. There is still no version for the Xbox. So it seems a little unlikely that Kojima Productions could soon be part of Microsoft. But of course it is not impossible.

During the Game Awards on December 11th from 1am we should find out if there is anything to this rumor. We may also get to see something about the studio's new game, maybe a Death Stranding 2 or a horror game. After all, there are always some new games announced during the Game Awards. It has since been confirmed that we will be presented with something for Dragon Age 4. But that won't be the only thing new to see during the show.
