Audi, investments of 15 billion for the electrification of the range

Audi, investments of 15 billion for the electrification of the range
The electric car market has inevitably increased compared to a few years ago. A goal made possible thanks to the regulatory thrust of the European Union objectives relating to CO2 emissions from new cars, which in fact forced the entire automotive industry to invest in new mobility. Among these could not miss Audi which has decided to lay the foundations of the investment plan for the next five years, with around 35 billion euros to be allocated to electric mobility and technologies of the future.

Not surprisingly, therefore, With the new plans, Audi is continuing its optimization work on its race to electrification. In fact, about 17 billion euros will be allocated to the experimentation and development of new technologies, and about 15 billion euros to electrification and hybridization of its range.

With the current investment planning - said Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Audi AG - we are making Audi stronger for the upcoming transformation of the core business. Technological leadership in the sector of electric mobility and connectivity services is the goal of the supervisory board and the board of directors. In this regard, we are making the necessary resources available.

The investment plan will also benefit from synergies within the Volkswagen group, in terms of software development and, consequently, the sharing of platforms. Not coincidentally, the car manufacturer Audi has started the development of a modular Ppe platform for premium vehicles together with Porsche; while the use of Volkswagen's Meb platform has already been started for some time. Inevitably, thanks to these two platforms and the related resources allocated, the German company aims to achieve a decisive increase in sales numbers that can be optimized with the launch of about 30 electrified models by 2025, of which 20 are battery-powered.

Our investment planning - commented Markus Duesmann, CEO and Head of Technical Development of Audi AG - is very clear: we give the highest priority to expenses for electric mobility and software development. Constant attention to Group synergies for these fundamental issues is an important key to success.

The House of the Four Rings will also be the protagonist of the development activities of digitalization and software IT processes, together with the projects dedicated to autonomous driving.
