Toyota GR Yaris: great time for the city car at the Nürburgring
The compact of the Japanese brand was able to capture the attention of many car enthusiasts as the protagonist of a "record". Nothing official, but the Toyota GR Yaris managed to get a really good time - for a city car - on the well-known Nürburgring circuit.

Despite the weather conditions, not exactly the best, the small car of the brand Toyota appeared in an amateur video uploaded to the YouTube channel by Captain Gaskrank while traveling the “Bridge to Gantry” section - therefore open to the public - at the Nürburgring. Well, it would seem that the new Toyota GR Yaris managed to complete the track in a time that could be considered - for the small car - a record, as it took less than 8 minutes (exactly 7:56 minutes) to complete its route. .

Although it may seem nothing striking, considering the performance that the Japanese city car is able to offer, it is a very interesting time, even very close to that achieved by the Porsche 996 Turbo. However, some factors may suggest that the small Toyota brand car would have no problem achieving a better result. In fact, it should be noted that the lap on the Nürburgring circuit was carried out not by a professional driver, but by a private individual in his car.

Furthermore, as mentioned above, the weather conditions are not they were optimal and the asphalt was inevitably slippery. So, when the automaker intends to test the small GR Yaris to attempt to hit the record, it would certainly have the chance to complete the track in even less time.

The protagonist of the excellent test which was held on November 22nd, was equipped with the optional track pack which included Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, also equipped with a 1.6, 3-cylinder engine that delivers 257 HP and 360 Nm of torque capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.5 seconds and reaching a limited top speed of 230 km / h.
