PS5 and Xbox Series X | S: limited stocks impact sales
We can now say it easily, with the arrival of PS5 scheduled for tomorrow in our country, we have officially entered the next gen. Xbox Series X has now made itself known for just over a week and buyers have been delighted to say the least. The two consoles have obviously different plans, but on paper they are both to be praised both in terms of design, the decidedly more "minimal" Japanese one, and in terms of features inside them. But a question arises spontaneously to everyone: How have sales gone compared to previous consoles ?.

Let's start by saying that 2020 was certainly not an easy year for everyone. The pandemic due to COVID 19 has brought the whole world to its knees and video game companies have also suffered, for example, the various postponements of some upcoming titles. So with a limited number of PS5 and Xbox Series X / S at launch, sales were expected to be lower. Famitsu confirmed that the two consoles at launch did not sell as much as their predecessors. According to the well-known website, Sony has sold 118,085 units in Japan, about a third of the PS4. Microsoft instead counted 20,534 Xbox Series X against 23,562 for Xbox One.

Japan was one of the first states to receive the two consoles, and is considered a real "battlefield" to stabilize an advantage of next generation titles by evaluating the future of the two consoles accordingly. Obviously, as we mentioned earlier, the pandemic has partially halted production, so this data is not so alarming. In recent months we have seen an increase in demand on supply, so much so that both PS5 and Xbox Series X / S units finished in record time.

Microsoft obviously said it was "absolutely satisfied" of the sales of its two consoles. In the UK for example, it was the best launch in Xbox history. In short, following the analysis of the last few weeks, the sales boom will certainly happen next year with the end, hopefully, of the epidemic. In summary let's not worry too much about this data as your machines are respectively selling very well.
