PowerColor, the red dragon awakens with the new Radeon RX 6800
After PowerColor's official announcement of the Red Devil Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800, colleagues at VideoCardz shared renders of what we can expect from the Red Dragon series which, compared to the Red Devils, usually offers a less flashy design and a lower factory overclock.

Indeed, as the renderings show, the Red Dragon Radeon RX 6800 XT has a less garish aesthetic and there are no traces of RGB LEDs.

Given i Big Navi's considerable power requirements, the Red Dragon series will still rely on a triple fan cooling solution, consisting of a small fan in the center accompanied by two larger ones on the side.

At the moment dimensions of the Red Dragon Radeon RX 6800 XT are unknown, but it should occupy 2.5 expansion slots, slightly less than its Red Devil counterpart. The difference in thickness is due to the fact that the Red Dragon does not come with an aggressive factory overclock like its Red Devil counterpart.

The Red Dragon Radeon RX 6800 XT also appears to have a metal backplate and dual-BIOS switch. In addition to the PCIe slot, the graphics card receives power from two eight-pin PCIe power connectors.

Video outputs differ from the reference design from AMD and the Red Devil. While the other two provide an HDMI 2.1 port, two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs and a single USB Type-C, on the Red Dragon PowerColor has decided to sell the USB Type-C port in favor of another DisplayPort 1.4 output, bringing the total to three.

As we reported in our test, the new Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 offer high performance equal to and in some cases higher than the direct competitors RTX 3000. The Radeon RX 6800 XT guarantees a framerate of little lower than the RTX 3080 in 4K (-2% overall), but slightly outperforms it in Quad HD (+ 3%).
