macOS Big Sur: Problems on MacBook Pro 2013 and 2014
Last week, Apple kicked off the release of the update that brings the macOS operating system to the Big Sur edition. A significant step forward compared to what OS X has offered in the past, but not free from bugs: many report problems installing the platform on a MacBook Pro.

macOS Big Sur : MacBook Pro problem, black screen

Those in possession of the 2013 and 2014 versions of the laptop seem to be interested above all, the oldest of those supported by the new version of the platform. During the update process they are suddenly faced with a black screen with no possibility of continuing. The procedures for forcing the computer to restart don't seem to work either. In short, the laptop becomes completely unusable from one moment to the next.

Someone reports that they have received instructions from Apple to send the MacBook Pro for repair. Others claim that the problem has already been taken over by the Cupertino technicians to be resolved quickly. At the moment there are no statements on the part of the bitten apple, neither on the cause of the problem nor on the timing necessary for the release of a fix.

Not exactly the best of departures for Big Sur, presented in recent months by the group as a revolution for Macs, debuting in conjunction with the M1 processor based on ARM architecture (present in the new MacBook and Mac mini) , the bet of the group that focuses entirely on hardware-software optimization. At the moment, the best advice for those in possession of the 2013 and 2014 versions of the laptop is not to proceed with the installation of the update.
