Gigabyte BRIX mini PCs will soon be even more powerful with the new Ryzen
AMD announced a week ago that it will update the entire Ryzen Embedded range with the Zen 2 architecture and Gigabyte is in action immediately, announcing that it will soon be offering new versions of its compact BRIX units equipped with new SoCs on the market.

AMD's new Ryzen V2000 embedded CPUs represent a big leap forward from the older V1000 series, based on first generation Ryzen (no Zen + variants have been made). Not only are they now featuring the Zen 2 architecture, but AMD has also doubled and tripled the number of cores. In fact, the higher-end models (V2748 and V2718) offer eight cores and sixteen threads, while the less powerful variants (V2546 and V2516) have six cores and twelve threads. This is a substantial improvement over the four cores and two cores, respectively, of the V1000 series.

Gigabyte has not yet announced no specific model with the new chips. All we know is that they will be available soon, but we expect the devices to maintain the same form factor as those they will replace. Gigabyte's original BRIX, based on the first-generation embedded Ryzen SoCs, was equipped with tons of ports, such as a dual Ethernet connector, six USB and four HDMI. This made it a small machine ideal for multi-monitor setups and light work.

The only major drawback was its lack of performance, modern standards like USB 3.2 Gen 2 and any Type- C (due to the old 1st generation Ryzen architecture). If Gigabyte solved both problems with the new V2000 CPUs, this would surely make BRIX a really powerful machine for typical office or media center productivity tasks as it requires very little power.

The Gigabyte BRIX version equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U CPU and a 1TB hard drive is available for purchase on Amazon at an affordable price, don't miss it!
