Gas station workers strike, stop starting from 27 November
The sudden block of mobility linked to the lockdown that the health emergency due to COVID-19 forced us, can only lead to a "zeroing" of fuel consumption, inevitably destined to continue for weeks.

The current situation only makes the economy of motorway service area operators more and more dramatic due to the exhaustion of liquidity and credit channels. In addition, as the days go by, there is no shortage of complaints from managers regarding the risk of plant closures, resulting in the failure of hundreds of small management companies. A situation that returns to repeat itself, therefore, after the previous lockdown which completely blocked the road network during last spring.

Strike from November 27

The Federations Faib, Fegica, Figisc and Anisa have a special communication was sent to the Prime Minister and to the Ministers to report the state of crisis in fuel distribution, both as regards the motorway network and the ordinary one. In detail, the note communicates that the night service on the motorway will be suspended from Friday 27 November. The daytime service will instead be suspended from Monday 30 November.

Turnover 2020

According to the data relating to 2020, in the same year the turnover suffered losses of more than 40% on ordinary roads and losses by as much as 70% on the motorway. Furthermore, the absence of refreshment measures related to economic support and traffic conditions lead to a critical situation. The same note states that "the situation that has arisen cannot induce managers to remain with the plants open only to guard the territory".

The Presidents of the Federations Faib, Fegica, Anisa, Figisc, denounce some particular crucial points for the managers. Despite the confirmations coming from the government, they denounce the lack of targeted interventions in support of motorway concessionaires. Furthermore, the recent acts that should become law have excluded precisely the category of fuel managers from further economic support measures. In this regard, the Federations have asked that these too be included in the next economic support measures so as to avoid the closure of activities.
